			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mercyhurst Student Government has a tradition of bringing a Distinguished Speaker Series to Mercyhurst College. This year the speakers were all chosen to benefit and interest different groups on campus and the Mercyhurst community at large. </p>

<p>The <span class="caps">MSG</span> Distinguished Speaker Series strives to bring in the best speakers that will be entertaining, as well as academically and culturally enriching. </p>

<p>The first speaker of the series Jeff Lieberman made a presentation on Tuesday, January 12. The schedule of remaining speakers is as follows:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Mercyhurst Student Government and Circle K are teaming up to host Relay for Life at Mercyhurst College to benefit the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life brings together more than 3.5 million people in communities across the country to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and to fight back and put an end to cancer.</p>

<p>The event will take place on May 1, 2010 on Mercyhurst Main campus from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.. Team registrations are now being accepted. Teams can have up to 15 members, and each member is asked to raise $25. Each individual who can raise $100 or more will receive a free t-shirt.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Erie, Pa. – August 21, 2009 – Mercyhurst College, Mercyhurst Student Government and the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) combined forces in 2008 to provide students with quality transportation in Erie. 		<description><![CDATA[ Mercyhurst Student Government and Student Activities Council are bringing Third Eye Blind to campus on Friday, May 8, 2009.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Erie, Pa. – April 29, 2009 – Mercyhurst Student Government and Student Activities Council are bringing Third Eye Blind to campus on Friday, May 8, 2009.  The concert will take place in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at 8 p.m.</p>

<p>Free student tickets will be distributed as indicated below.  A valid undergraduate Mercyhurst student ID is required to receive a ticket.  Students may receive one ticket, and each student must pick up his or her own ticket.<br />
 <br />
Traditional Undergraduate Main Campus Students: Tickets will be made available beginning Friday, May 1st through Thursday, May 7th between the hours of 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-7 p.m. in the Student Union. Due to popular interest and the limited number of tickets (1500 maximum capacity in the <span class="caps">MAC</span>), we are only offering traditional undergraduate main campus students a ticket on a first come, first serve basis initially.  Once the concert tickets are gone, a sign will be placed in the Student Union.<br />
 <br />
Adult and Graduate Main Campus Students: If there are still tickets remaining on Wednesday, May 6th only then will tickets be offered to adult and graduate students at the main campus between the hours of 11am-2pm and 5pm-7pm in the Student Union. Once the concert tickets are gone, a sign will be placed in the Student Union.<br />
 <br />
Faculty, Staff and Administrators at Main Campus: If there are still tickets remaining on Thursday, May 7th only then will tickets be offered to faculty, staff and administrators at the main campus between the hours of 11am-2pm and 5pm-7pm in the Student Union. Once the concert tickets are gone, a sign will be placed in the Student Union.<br />
 <br />
Alumni, Guests and Non-Main Campus Students and Personnel: Tickets are <span class="caps">NOT </span>available to the Springfest concert.</p>

<p>In addition to ticket sales we will also be selling Springfest t-shirts for $5 at the table!! Please pick up your tickets for the biggest event of the year!!</p>

<p>Please note that students will be asked to show their Mercyhurst ID cards upon entry to the concert. Anyone not having proper Mercyhurst College ID will not be allowed to enter.</p>

<p>Nine class senators representing the sophomore, junior and senior classes were approved, as well as nine senators representing Mercyhurst’s academic schools.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Student Activities Council</strong> has kept it busy during past couple of weeks with Spring Charity Ball, Last Comic  Standing, Open Skate Night,  and free Of- Campus Trip to Chicago.</p>

<p>The annual <strong>Spring Charity Ball</strong> was held on Friday, April 3rd in the Masonic Temple. Theme was Black and White Tie Affair. Tickets were $10 per student which included <span class="caps">DJ, </span>transportation and dinner consisting of salmon, stuffed chicken breast, pasta, cheddar mashed potatoes, salad and desserts. All the $1500 money from the tickets went to the <strong>Mercy Beyond Borders</strong>, helping women and children in need. </p>

<p>Then the following weekend <span class="caps">SAC </span>organized an interesting event which received great feedback from students. <strong>Last Comic Standing was hosted by comedian Tony Deyo</strong> and  6 students competed for the votes from the audience. Steve Cameron won 1st place and $150, while Devon Swanson came in second with $50 prize.</p>

<p>That same night 150 students went on a <strong>free trip to the windy city, Chicago</strong>. Students who stayed could enjoy final sense of the winter during the last <strong>Open Skate</strong> of the year.  </p>
