The idea for this page of MSG web-site came as a suggestion from MSG Senator who had to answer some "rumors" regarding student life here at Mercyhurst.

This will be our effort to answer any of your concerns that are keeping you in doubt, so please if you have any questions please e-mail them to MSG PR Coordinator at msgpr@mercyhurst.edu or through our anonymous suggestion box on MSG home page!

Feb. 09:

IS IT TRUE THAT the new dorm will only be available for freshmen?
Yes, new Residence Hall by the PAC will be co-ed freshmen housing residence hall.

IS IT TRUE THAT campus Policy and Safety goes off campus on weekends to "arrest" our students?
No, Mercyhurst Policy and Safety has jurisdiction to deal with incidents only on Mercyhurst campus.

IS IT TRUE THAT Mercyhurst Student Government is going to bring in new vendors and special meal plan for students next year?
Yes, MSG Senators with its Food Committee have been helping out hard from student end with the new food contract. We organized student survey, provided food consultants with feedback, assisted administration in compiling Request to Proposal (RFP) which went to 8 different vendors, toured and gave student perspective based on 2 food surveys to different vendors.

Top 3 will be selected and then MSG Food Committee members will participate in the interviews to pick the top one. *It is very important to note that there needs to be a balance between all students' wishes and price of the meal plan! One is certain: FOOD WILL BE BETTER NEXT YEAR!

IS IT TRUE THAT SAC is bringing Danity Kane as a Springfest band?
No, as you most of us know DK is having some problems and are not on tour right now... ...but continue to watch Making the Band 4 and come to the SAC Launch Party on Tuesday, March 10th in the Union!

IS IT TRUE THAT the apartments will only be allowed to have 3 people because of "Erie's whole 4 unrelated people is a brothel thing?"
No, the reason why tri-person apartments will now be available is because new freshmen residence hall will free up a lot of space (example grad students moving from Lewes to Mercy Suites). There still will be limited amount of quads available and as a educational institution we do not fall under "brothel rule."

IS IT TRUE THAT putting your name at the end of the MSG survey will tell others your answers to the questions?
No, the box at the end of the MSG survey that asks for your name is only used for the purpose of drawing a name for the $100 VISA card to those who answer the survey. Your answers to the MSG survey are and will remain anonymous.
